Frequently Asked Questions About The Laser Treatments

Frequently Asked Questions About The Laser Treatments

What is the program and what will it do?

The program uses a low level or cold laser that produces no heat on the body tissue. It’s a painless, non-invasive alternative to liposuction and other painful procedures that carry risk of complications including death. The excess fat naturally leaves the body through normal pathways without any downtime. The patient will be evaluated and given specific nutrition and guidelines for optimal results.

How does the laser work?

The low level laser therapy emitted by the laser causes the fat contained in the fat cell to liquefy. The laser causes the fat cell membrane to become temporarily porous, allowing the liquefied fat to leave the cell and accumulate in the interstitial space around the cells. There is no damage to the cell membrane and after 48 hours the pores close up. Once the fat is in the interstitial space, the body via the lymphatic system naturally removes it. Of course this is where the system shines with nutritional support, percussive lymphatic massage, re-hydration therapy, and more.

How much can I expect to lose?

How much can I expect to lose?

Everyone is different and so results will vary. The success of the treatments depends on your body’s ability to detoxify emulsified cellular debris. Therefore, not all patients will obtain the same outcome at the end of the two to four week therapy. In double-blind, randomized, multi-site, placebo-controlled clinical trials that tracked the circumferences of patient’s hips, waist and thighs, the average total loss was 3.5 inches, up to a maximum of 9.5 inches, compared to a placebo group that only lost a half inch.

Who can receive treatment?

Who can receive treatment?

You may not be a good candidate for the treatments simply because you want to lose weight. During our doctor’s thorough examination, it will be determined if you’re a good candidate for the program and if weight loss will improve your health. If you’re a candidate for the program, the doctor will determine a treatment and nutritional protocol that is best for your body.

Are there any risks?

There are no known risks associated with low-level laser therapy. This treatment causes no discomfort before or after the treatment.

Is the procedure painful?

The treatment is painless and requires no surgery, no anesthesia, no needles, no recovery, no healing, and no downtime.

What will the treatment be?

Typically, you will receive twelve 40-minute laser treatments during a one tofour -week period. Also LymphStar lymphatic stimulation will be done each visit. Additionally, you will receive nutritional support and other take home instructions for optimal results. To better enable your lymph system to process the excess fat from your body, you will also receive detoxifying footbaths.

Will the program get rid of cellulite?

Will the program get rid of cellulite?

The laser reduces contours due to excess fat, not cellulite. Your doctor may recommend additional deep tissue massage to help breakdown the fibrous adhesions common to cellulite.

Will the fat deposit “elsewhere?”

Fat removed by the laser is metabolized and removed by the body. There is no evidence that this fat deposits elsewhere.

Can I just use the laser instead of dieting?

The procedure is not a program for loosing weight or a cure for obesity. It is a great way to ‘kick-start’ lifetime changes toward better health including good nutrition and proper exercise. Our doctors will help you with this including individualizing a nutritional supplement protocol to help get you to optimum health.

Can the fat return?

The program itself does not obliterate or remove the fat cells from the body. When the fat leaves the cells, the cells remain intact and collapse to their ‘unloaded’ size. If poor diet and lifestyle habits continue and greater calories are brought in then expended, the body will store the excess calories and the fat cells may begin to retain fat again. It’s been found that the BodyByLaser program is an excellent jumpstart to making better lifestyle, dietary and exercise choices. More treatments can also be taken.

How many treatments can I do?

This should be discussed with your Doctor. Many patients return for second, third, forth, and more series of treatments to focus on different areas or lose even more inches. There have been no contraindications or side effects found from continued treatments.

Why do some people lose more inches then others?

The physiological ability to process fat has genetic variability from person to person. Variations include function of the lymph and digestive system as well as possible metabolic abnormalities. Your doctor will work with your individual case to help achieve optimum performance within the parameters of your given physiological make up.

When can I expect to see the results?

Typical results in decrease of body circumference are seen after about one week after completion of your treatment. However, some individuals may see results almost immediately and some individuals may not experience decrease of body circumference or weight loss at all.

What signs of change may I notice during my treatments?

Some physiological changes can occur during your program. Initial changes are typically noted beginning around the first week and include may include changes in stool including lightening of color, loosening of texture, and floating. This is due to the increased fat content of the stool as the body rids the fat via the digestive tract.

Upon palpation, superficial body fat may begin to feel softer or more ‘liquid’ during the program. Also, finding and tracking the size and texture of any ‘fat nodules’ or lipomas in field of treatment may be a useful monitor of initial change.

Why did you take my measurements?

Why did you take my measurements?

In order to accurately gauge your loss of body circumference in inches, it’s important to take accurate measurements. These are taken at specific anatomical sites before the first treatment, after the final treatment, and one week after the final treatment is completed. We also highly recommend before and after pictures of targeted areas. All these steps allow both the doctor and the patient to have accurate pre and post data and the pictures in particular have proven very effective.

Do the treatments increase toxins in my system?

During a large study, liver panels were taken pre and post and no changes were shown. Among its 500 or so functions, the liver is one of the body’s major detoxification pathways and any increase in toxins would show as increase in liver activity.

Are their any other changes from the treatment besides fat?

During a large study, it was shown that Cholesterol and triglyceride levels were normalized. This means that people the were 10 points high tended to drop 10 points and people who were 100 points high tended to drop 100 points.
